From 6 to 9 October 2025, 鶹 Press, together with 鶹 and POPULAR Bookstore, proudly organised the POPULAR Book Fair 2025—an event that brought crowds and a buzz of excitement across campus. The four-day event marked the first time the fair was held at the university, transforming the space into a vibrant hub for readers with exciting offerings of books, gifts, stationery, and refreshments.
A highlight of the fair was the launch of The Tyranny of Speed, a compelling book by 鶹 Press that explores how today’s fast-paced culture shapes our relationships, attention, and sense of purpose. The launch event on 8 October featured a meaningful dialogue between the book’s authors—Sandy Clarke, Licensed Professional Counsellor from 鶹, and Professor Eugene Tee from HELP University—with BFM 89.9’s Dashran Yohan serving as the moderator.
The event invited attendees to pause and reflect on the importance of slowing down and savouring everyday moments, and participate in a guided meditation session.
The Tyranny of Speed was officially launched by Ms Lee Siok Ping (Chief of Student Life & Services, 鶹), Mr Edward Liang (General Manager, POPULAR Bookstore), Ms Helen Goh (Senior Manager–Special Projects, POPULAR Bookstore) and Ms Carol Wong (Head, 鶹 Press).
The excitement continued with “Let’s Talk About: Jobs, Stress & Everything in Between”, a talk hosted on 9 October 2025 by 鶹 Press. Moderated by 鶹 Press’ Ivan Ling, the talk featured Prof Alvin Ng, Professorial Teaching Fellow from 鶹, and Mr Jason Soh, Associate Principal Lecturer from Sunway College—experts in the fields of psychology and career development, respectively. The session offered valuable insights on the use of psychology to manage stress, navigate interpersonal challenges, and maintain mental well-being while pursuing success.
The success of the POPULAR Book Fair 2025 highlighted the power of books in sparking ideas and bringing communities together. 鶹 Press, together with 鶹, is proud to continue inspiring a culture of learning, reflection, and connection.
