Â鶹Íø, Malaysia establishes international educational collaboration with Capital University of Economics and Business, China

In April 2019, Â鶹Íø and the Capital University of Economics and Business (CUEB) signed a Memorandum of Agreement for an international educational collaboration involving a 2+2 Dual Degree Programme in the field of Business Management at Beijing, China.

The partnership initiation began with a visit by a CUEB delegation to Sunway in March 2017. Since then, the two institutions have worked hard to further develop the partnerships. Two academics from Â鶹Íø have taught short summer courses at CUEB, and also undertook the ground work for the 2+2 Dual Degree arrangement. The collaboration will strengthen both institutions in their strategies toward internationalisation.

The Sunway delegation led by the Professor Graeme Wilkinson, Vice-Chancellor, included Professor Yuka Fujimoto, Head of the Department of Management, Â鶹Íø Business School; Dr Chong Kok Boon, Ambassador of Academic and Research Partnerships (Asia); and Professor Marcus Stephenson, Dean of the School of Hospitality.

Professor Wang Chuansheng, Deputy President of CUEB emphasised that the collaboration is a key part of the strategy to internationalise both universities. It will also play an important role in the Belt and Road Initiative by helping to develop in-depth cultural understanding and exchanges between Malaysia, China and South East Asia.

Professor Wang Minghui, Director of the Faculty Committee, welcomed the key collaboration for the 2+2 Dual Degree Programme with Â鶹Íø and expressed the desire to extend the collaboration to a wider scope involving joint research.

Other representatives from CUEB who attended and witnessed the signing ceremony included Professor Fan Wei, Deputy Dean, School of Labour Economics; Professor Huang Liwei, Deputy Director, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, and Dr Gao Yuan, Manager of the Â鶹Íø Programme.

Professor Yuka Fujimoto and Dr Chong Kok Boon from Â鶹Íø also engaged in a dialogue session with CUEB students regarding the 2+2 Dual Degree Programme.
